Why does my device show a full battery level when it is offline? Follow

If your Wiser device is offline, you may notice that the battery indicator in the Wiser Home app continues to show a full battery level. This is expected behaviour.

Why does this happen?

The battery level displayed in the Wiser Home app is based on the last battery status reported by the device while it was connected.

When a battery-powered device goes offline, it can no longer communicate with the Wiser Hub or send updated battery information. As a result, the app will display a full battery level until communication with the device is restored.

Why doesn't the app show an empty battery?

The battery indicator is not used to indicate whether a device is online or offline.

Displaying an empty battery whenever a device loses communication could incorrectly suggest that the batteries have been depleted. This may lead to unnecessary battery replacements when the device is actually offline for another reason, such as being out of range or temporarily unable to communicate with the Wiser Hub.

Instead, the Wiser Home app shoes a full battery level and indicates the device's connection status separately as Offline.

What should I do if my device is offline?

Before replacing the batteries, we recommend checking:

  • If the device physically responsive, does it show any LEDs/an active display?
  • Whether the device is shown as Offline in the Wiser Home app.
  • That the device is within range of the Wiser Hub.

If the device remains offline after completing these checks, replace the batteries with a new set. Once the device reconnects, the battery level displayed in the app will update automatically.

Summary

A full battery icon on an offline device does not necessarily mean the batteries are fully charged. This helps prevent unnecessary battery replacements while still providing the most recent battery information available.
