Is my boiler compatible with Wiser? Follow
Wiser is compatible with most common domestic heating systems. However, due to the wide range of boiler manufacturers, models and system configurations available, we cannot guarantee compatibility with every individual boiler model.
What types of heating systems are compatible?
Wiser is compatible with most:
- Gas boilers
- Oil boilers
- Electric boilers
- Air source heat pump systems
- Combination (combi) boilers
- Conventional (heat-only) boilers
- System boilers
Wiser can also be used with a range of heating controls, including radiator thermostats and underfloor heating systems when installed with compatible Wiser products. Do I need an OpenTherm boiler?
No. Wiser does not require an OpenTherm boiler to operate.
Wiser can control many heating systems using standard on/off heating control. However, if your boiler supports OpenTherm, additional features may be available when used with a compatible Wiser Hub and installation.
Why can't compatibility be guaranteed?
Boiler compatibility depends on a number of factors, including:
- The boiler model and age
- The existing heating controls
- The wiring configuration
- The type of heating system installed
- Any additional components, such as valves, pumps or hot water cylinders
Because every installation is different, we cannot guarantee compatibility with every individual boiler model.
How can I check compatibility?
The easiest way to identify the correct Wiser kit for your heating system is to use the Wiser Product Selector.

Important information
Wiser is not suitable for gravity-fed heating systems unless they have been upgraded with pumps and cylinder thermostats: Is Wiser compatible with Gravity-Fed systems?
