How do I rename a device? Follow
The Wiser Home app allows certain devices to be renamed, making it easier to identify them within your system.
The ability to rename a device depends on the type of device you are using.
Which devices can be renamed?
Devices which can be renamed are:
- Smart Plugs
- Smart Plug Extensions
- Power Micromodules
- Smart Home devices that can exist independently of a room
For example, you may wish to rename a Smart Plug from Smart Plug to Living Room Lamp or Coffee Machine depending on how the device is used.
Which devices cannot be renamed?
Some devices use their assigned room name instead of an individual device name. These devices cannot be renamed separately within the app.
Examples include:
- Wiser Room Thermostats
- Wiser Radiator Thermostats
These devices will be displayed using the name of the room they are assigned to. For example, a Radiator and Room Thermostat assigned to a room called Bedroom will appear as a group of devices under the heading Bedroom within the app.
If you would like to change how these devices are displayed, you can rename the room instead.
How do I rename a compatible device?
- Open the Wiser Home app.
- Navigate to Settings.
- Select Devices.
- Choose the device you would like to rename.
- Tap the device name.
- Enter the new name and save your changes.
The new name will be displayed throughout the app.
How do I rename a room?
If your device uses the room name rather than an individual device name:
- Open the Wiser Home app.
- Navigate to Settings.
- Select Rooms.
- Choose the room you would like to rename.
- Edit the room name and save your changes.
Any devices that use the room name will automatically reflect the updated name.
