Selecting the appropriate HubR is crucial for establishing an efficient and cohesive smart home ecosystem. Schneider Electric offers various HubRs, each designed to cater to specific needs and functionalities. Below, we explore the differences between these HubRs and how they operate to help you make an informed decision.

  1. Which HubR for Which Purpose?

    • Wiser HubR (1st Generation): This HubR serves as the central control unit for the Wiser system, managing heating zones, schedules, and facilitating communication between the Wiser cloud and various heating devices. It also functions as a wireless internet gateway, connecting the Wiser system to the internet via a home Wi-Fi router, enabling cloud and mobile app access.
    • Wiser HubR (2nd Generation): An evolution of its predecessor, the 2nd Generation HubR acts as a central gateway, enabling control of various smart home devices through Matter compatibility for enhanced device communication. It integrates seamlessly with a wide range of smart home devices, including lighting, locks, thermostats, and more, allowing you to control your entire home with your voice using Alexa as your personal assistant.
    • Wiser HubR R (1st Generation): Tailored for central heating systems, this HubR is available in three variants:
      • One Channel: 1 x Heating, suitable for combination boilers.
      • Two Channels: 1 x Heating, 1 x Hot water, ideal for conventional boilers with a separate hot water cylinder.
      • Three Channels: 2 x Heating, 1 x Hot water, designed for large properties with dual heating circuits.

This HubR is the central control unit used to connect and manage Wiser devices, specifically in setups where central heating (e.g., boiler or heat pump) is present.

  2. How Do They Work?

    • Connectivity: All Wiser HubRs connect to your home's Wi-Fi network, enabling remote access and control via the Wiser Home App. They communicate with compatible devices using wireless protocols such as Zigbee, ensuring reliable and efficient operation.
    • Integration: The 2nd Generation HubR offers seamless integration with a wide range of smart home devices, including lighting, locks, thermostats, and more, allowing you to control your entire home with your voice using Alexa as your personal assistant.
    • Control and Monitoring: Through the Wiser Home App, users can monitor and control connected devices, set schedules, and create automation scenarios to
      enhance comfort and energy efficiency.
    • Installation: The HubRs are designed for straightforward installation, with intuitive app guidance and clear instructions, allowing you to have your smart home up and running in no time without professional help.

In summary, choosing the right Wiser HubR depends on your specific home setup and smart home goals. The 1st Generation HubR is suitable for basic heating control, while the 2nd Generation HubR offers advanced integration and control features for a comprehensive smart home experience. The Wiser HubR variants cater to specific heating system configurations, providing tailored solutions for various property types.
