How do you calculate the number of trees in the Home Carbon Footprint section? Follow
The numbers we show should be treated in a generic way, the amount of CO2 a tree can absorb depends on many things, such as it's age, where it grows and the type of tree.
The calculation you see in the app is based on an assessment of a typical mature tree in the UK and the conversion factors for electricity and natural gas. Using this information , as well as your total energy usage we can estimate how many trees are required to "work" for one month to offset your Home Carbon Footprint.
If you are on a green tariff where your energy comes from renewable sources, we will identify this in the app.
