Wiser Electrical Heat Switch Follow

The Wiser Electrical Heat Switch is a versatile addition to Schneider Electric's Wiser 2nd Generation smart  home system, enabling precise control over various electrical heating devices. This article outlines its purpose, functionality, and installation process to assist you in integrating it seamlessly into your smart home setup.

1. For What Purpose?

The Wiser Electrical Heat Switch is designed to provide smart control over electrical
heating appliances, including:

  • • Electric Underfloor Heating Systems: Manage and schedule underfloor
heating to optimize comfort and energy efficiency.
  • • Electric Radiators and Towel Rails: Control these devices remotely, ensuring
rooms are warm when needed and conserving energy when unoccupied.
  • • Infrared Panel Heaters: Integrate these heaters into your Wiser system for
    centralized control and scheduling.
By incorporating the Wiser Electrical Heat Switch, you can achieve:
  • • Enhanced Comfort: Ensure your living spaces are heated according to your
    preferences and schedules.
  • • Energy Efficiency: Reduce unnecessary energy consumption by automating
heating based on occupancy and time.
  • • Remote Control: Manage your heating devices from anywhere using the Wiser
    Home app.
  • 2. How Does It Work?
The Wiser Electrical Heat Switch operates by:
  • • Relay Control: Utilizing a 16A relay to switch electrical heating devices on or off,
    handling significant electrical loads safely.
  • • Wireless Communication: Connecting via the Zigbee protocol to the Wiser
Hub, facilitating seamless integration into the Wiser ecosystem.
  • • Temperature Regulation: When paired with a compatible thermostat (sold
separately), it regulates room temperature by controlling the connected heating
device based on the desired setpoint. For electric underfloor heating
applications, a remote floor sensor is required to define high or low-temperature
    limits.
  • 3. How to Install It?
Important: Installation involves working with mains voltage electricity. If you are not
confident in performing such tasks, please consult a qualified electrician.
    Preparation:
  • 1. Power Down: Ensure the mains supply to the circuit where the Heat Switch will
be installed is switched off to prevent electrical shock.
  • 2. Verify Compatibility: Confirm that the heating device's electrical load does not
exceed the 16A rating of the Heat Switch.
    Installation Steps:
  • 1. Mounting the Heat Switch:
  • a. Location Selection: Choose a suitable location near the heating device,
ensuring it is accessible for wiring and within range of the Wiser Hub for
    reliable communication.
  • b. Surface Preparation: Prepare the mounting surface, ensuring it is clean
    and dry.
  • c. Cable Entry: Pierce the rubber grommets to allow cable entry,
maintaining the IP44 ingress protection rating.
  • 2. Wiring Connections:
  • a. Cable Insertion: Insert the appropriate cables through the grommets into
    the Heat Switch enclosure.
  • b. Secure Connections: Connect the live (L) and neutral (N) wires to the
corresponding terminals, ensuring all connections are securely
    tightened.
  • c. Earth Continuity: If required, use the provided terminals for linking
    external earthing conductors.
  • d. Cable Clamping: Secure the cables using the provided cable clamps to
    prevent strain on the connections
  • 3. Finalizing Installation:
  • a. Seal Openings: Use the supplied blanking plugs to seal any unused cable
entry points, preserving the device's ingress protection.
  • b. Mounting: Fix the Heat Switch to the prepared surface using appropriate
    fixings.
  • 4. Pairing with the Wiser System:
  • a. Power On: Restore power to the circuit.
  • b. Initiate Pairing Mode: Press and hold the button on the Heat Switch for
more than 2 seconds until the LED alternates between amber and green,
indicating it is in pairing mode.
  • c. Wiser Home App Integration: Open the Wiser Home app, navigate to the
device pairing section, and follow the on-screen instructions to add the
    Heat Switch to your system.
  • d. Confirmation: Upon successful pairing, the LED will flash green for 5
seconds. If pairing fails, the LED will flash red for 5 seconds; in this case,
    repeat the pairing process.
  • 5. Configuration:
  • a. Assign to Room: Within the Wiser Home app, assign the Heat Switch to
    the appropriate room or zone.
  • b. Set Schedules: Configure heating schedules and preferences to suit your
lifestyle, optimizing comfort and energy usage.

For detailed installation instructions and safety guidelines, refer to the Wiser Electrical
Heat Switch Installation Guide.
By carefully following these steps, you can effectively install and integrate the Wiser
Electrical Heat Switch into your Wiser 2nd Generation system, enhancing the
intelligence and efficiency of your home's heating management.
Note: Always ensure compliance with local electrical regulations and standards during
installation.
