The Wiser Plug is an integral component of Schneider Electric's Wiser 2nd Generation smart home system, offering users the ability to control electrical appliances remotely, monitor energy consumption, and extend the range of their Wiser network. This article provides an overview of its purpose, functionality, and installation process to help you seamlessly integrate it into your smart home setup.

1. For What Purpose?

  • Remote Appliance Control: Manage the operation of connected devices, such as lamps or coffee makers, from anywhere using the Wiser Home app.
  • Energy Monitoring: Track the energy consumption of plugged-in appliances to promote efficient usage and identify potential energy savings.
  • Range Extension: Act as a Zigbee signal repeater to enhance the communication range between Wiser devices, ensuring robust connectivity throughout your home.

2. How Does It Work?

The Wiser Plug operates by:

  • Plug-and-Play Integration: Once paired with the Wiser Hub, it becomes part of your Wiser system, allowing centralized control through the Wiser Home app.
  • Manual and App Control: Turn connected appliances on or off manually using the plug's physical button or remotely via the app.
  • Scheduling and Automation: Set schedules for appliances to operate at specific times or create automation scenarios that align with your daily routines.

3. How to Install It?

Installing the Wiser Plug is straightforward:

  1. Preparation:
    • a. Ensure Wiser Hub is Set Up: Confirm that your Wiser Hub is installed and operational.
    • b. Wiser Home App: Install the Wiser Home app on your smartphone or tablet and ensure it's connected to your Wiser system.
  2. Physical Installation:
    • a. Plug into Power Outlet: Insert the Wiser Plug into a standard electrical outlet. The LED indicator will illuminate, signaling it’s ready for pairing. 
  3. Pairing with Wiser System:
    • a. Open Wiser Home App: Launch the app and navigate to the "Settings" menu.
    • b. Add Device: Select "Add Device" and choose "Smart Plug" from the list.
    • c. Initiate Pairing Mode: Press and hold the ON/OFF button on the Wiser Plug for 2 seconds until the LED flashes blue, indicating it's in pairing mode.
    • d. Complete Pairing: Follow the in-app instructions to finalize the pairing process. Once successful, the LED will stop flashing.
  4. Configuration:
    • a. Assign to Room: Within the app, assign the Wiser Plug to a specific room for organized control.
    • b. Set Schedules and Automations: Configure operating schedules or integrate the plug into automation scenarios to suit your lifestyle.
