How do you convert heating hours to pounds and kWh? Follow

Well, it’s not straightforward – what we get from your smart meter is a total gas consumption, which includes heating, cooking and other gas powered activities. In our calculations we need to separate the gas used for heating from the rest of the gas used, and that, of course, will be different for different users.

We separate gas used for heating from the rest by looking at how your gas usage corresponds to your heating hours. We use an equation to calculate this.
