How to install Wiser – Window and Door Sensor. Follow

The Wiser Window/Door Sensor is an essential component of Schneider Electric's Wiser 2nd Generation smart home system, designed to enhance security and energy efficiency by monitoring the open or closed status of windows and doors. This article outlines its purpose, functionality, and installation process to help you integrate it seamlessly into your smart home setup.

1. For What Purpose?

The primary functions of the Wiser Window/Door Sensor include:

  • Security Monitoring: Detects unauthorized openings of windows or doors, triggering alerts to notify homeowners of potential intrusions.
  • Energy Efficiency: Works in conjunction with heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems to optimize energy consumption by adjusting settings when windows or doors are open, preventing energy wastage.
  • Automation Integration: Serves as a trigger for various automation scenarios, such as turning off lights or adjusting thermostat settings when a window or door is opened, enhancing convenience and energy savings.

2. How Does It Work?

The Wiser Window/Door Sensor operates by:

  • Magnetic Detection: Consists of two parts: a sensor and a magnet. When installed on a window or door, the sensor detects the presence of the magnet. Opening the window or door separates the magnet from the sensor, triggering a status change.
  • Wireless Communication: Utilizes Zigbee protocol to transmit status updates to the Wiser Hub, allowing real-time monitoring and control through the Wiser Home app.

3. How to Install It?

Installing the Wiser Window/Door Sensor involves the following steps:

  • Unpack the Sensor: Ensure all components are present, including the sensor, magnet, adhesive tape, screws, and user manual.
  • Choose an Installation Location: Select a suitable position on the window or door and its frame where the sensor and magnet can align properly when closed. Ensure the gap between the sensor and magnet does not exceed 18 mm on wood and plastic surfaces or 10 mm on metallic surfaces.
  • Mount the Sensor and Magnet:
    • Adhesive Mounting: Clean the surfaces where the sensor and magnet will be placed. Apply the provided adhesive tape to the back of each component and press them firmly onto the selected positions.
    • Screw Mounting: Use the provided screws to secure the sensor and magnet onto the window or door and its frame. This method is recommended for more permanent installations.
  • Pair with the Wiser Hub: To integrate the sensor into your Wiser system:
    1. Open the Wiser Home app and navigate to the device pairing section.
    2. Press the function key on the sensor three times within 1.5 seconds; the LED will blink orange, indicating it is in pairing mode.
    3. Follow the in-app instructions to complete the pairing process. A solid green LED indicates successful pairing.
  • Configure Settings: After pairing, customize the sensor's settings through the Wiser Home app:
    • Renaming the Device: Assign a unique name to the sensor for easy identification, such as "Front Door Sensor" or "Living Room Window Sensor."
    • Setting the Device Location: Specify the room or area where the sensor is installed to organize your devices within the app.
    • Selecting the Operating Mode: Choose the desired mode of operation, such as enabling notifications for status changes or integrating the sensor into automation routines.

For comprehensive instructions and visual aids, refer to the Wiser Window/Door Sensor Device User Guide.
By following these steps, you can effectively install and configure the Wiser Window/Door Sensor, enhancing your home's security and energy efficiency as part of the Wiser 2nd Generation system.
