Smart Device automations Follow

Schneider Electric's Wiser 2nd Generation system offers homeowners the ability to automate various smart devices, enhancing convenience, energy efficiency, and overall home comfort. This article explores the purpose of smart device automations within the Wiser system, their operational mechanisms, and a step-by-step guide on setting them up.

1. For What Purpose?

Smart device automations in the Wiser system are designed to:

  • Enhance Convenience: Automate routine tasks, such as adjusting lighting or heating based on occupancy or time of day, reducing manual intervention.
  • Improve Energy Efficiency: Optimize energy consumption by automating devices to operate only when needed, leading to potential cost savings.
  • Increase Home Security: Simulate occupancy by controlling lights or receive alerts from sensors, deterring potential intruders.

2. How Does It Work?

The Wiser system enables automations through the Wiser Home app, allowing users to create customized scenarios where devices respond automatically to specific conditions. This is achieved by:

  • Setting Triggers: Defining events that initiate an automation, such as a specific time, sensor detection (e.g., motion or door opening), or changes in environmental conditions (e.g., temperature or humidity).
  • Specifying Actions: Determining the response of devices when a trigger occurs, such as turning on lights, adjusting thermostats, or sending notifications.
  • Utilizing Conditional Logic: Applying conditions to refine automations, ensuring actions occur only under certain circumstances (e.g., activating heating only if the temperature drops below a set point and during specific hours).

3. How to Make It Work?

To set up smart device automations in your Wiser 2nd Generation system, follow these steps:

  • Ensure System Setup:
    • Verify that your Wiser Hub 2nd Generation is installed and connected to your home network.
    • Confirm that all smart devices (e.g., sensors, lights, thermostats) are paired with the Wiser Hub and functioning correctly.
  • Access the Wiser Home App:
    • Open the Wiser Home app on your smartphone or tablet.
    • Log in to your mySchneider account associated with your Wiser system.
  • Navigate to Automations:
    • From the app's home screen, tap on the "Automations" tab.
    • Here, you can view existing automations or create new ones.
  • Create a New Automation:
    • Tap the "Add Automation" or "+" button.
    • Assign a descriptive name to the automation for easy identification.
  • Define the Trigger:
    • Tap on "Add Trigger" or a similar option.
    • Select the type of trigger:
        • Time-Based: Set specific times or schedules (e.g., daily at 7:00 AM).
        • Device-Based: Choose a device and specify a state change (e.g., motion detected by a sensor).
        • Environmental: Set conditions based on environmental data (e.g.,
          temperature falls below 18°C).
    • Specify the Action:
      • Tap on "Add Action" or a similar option.
      • Select the device(s) to control and define the desired action (e.g., turn on the living room lights).
    • Set Conditions (Optional):
      • Add conditions to refine when the automation should run (e.g., only execute if the home is in "Away Mode").
    • Save and Activate:
      • Review the automation settings to ensure accuracy.
      • Tap "Save" or "Activate" to enable the automation.

For comprehensive instructions and visual aids, refer to the Wiser Hub 2nd Generation - Wiser Home System User Guide.
